Hi, I'm Dave 👋, a photographer based in St Helens, Merseyside, England, available for photography services across the surrounding areas.
I’m Dave Lawson, a professional photographer based in St. Helens. Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’m fortunate to have turned my passion into a career capturing memories, moments and stories for individuals, families and businesses across the North West.
Photography began as a hobby, something I enjoyed exploring in my spare time. Over the years, that interest developed into a real passion for capturing genuine moments and telling stories through images. What started with simple experiments eventually grew into a professional career, and I’ve never looked back.
Being based in St. Helens has also shaped my photography, allowing me to combine my love of the craft with the local community I’m proud to be part of.
From my very first paid session, I knew photography was the right path for me. Every shoot has provided an opportunity to learn, improve and grow both creatively and personally. Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to work with people from all walks of life and help them preserve memories that matter to them.
For me, photography is about much more than simply taking pictures. It’s about making people feel comfortable and capturing genuine moments that feel authentic.
I believe the best photographs happen when people are relaxed, so I aim to create a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere during every session. I don’t believe in forcing stiff poses or rushing through a shoot. Instead, I take the time to understand each client’s personality, preferences and story, allowing the images to reflect who they really are.
Whether I’m photographing a wedding, family portrait or professional headshot, my goal is always to create timeless photographs that have meaning. I also pay close attention to the details, from lighting and composition through to editing, ensuring every image is finished to a high standard.
My approach is built around care, patience and creativity, and I’m proud that many of my clients return to me for future sessions.
One of the things I enjoy most about photography is the variety of people and stories I get to capture. No two sessions are ever the same, which keeps my work fresh and inspiring.
I love being trusted to photograph important milestones, whether that’s a wedding, welcoming a new baby or helping someone take the next step in their career with a professional headshot.
Seeing the reaction when clients first view their photographs is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. It reminds me why I chose photography as a career in the first place.
Photography gives me the opportunity to create something people can hold onto forever – something that can become even more valuable as the years pass. Being able to do that while working within the St. Helens community and across the wider North West makes what I do even more meaningful.
